Cadran solaire portatif type Butterfield (Michaël Butterfield, ingénieur, 1634 - Paris 1724) : table octogonale en laiton avec boussole vitrée; à trois divisions horaires à chiffraison romaine et arabe; gnomon rabattable triangulaire, orné de feuillages et d'un oiseau permettant le réglage des latitudes comprises entre 40° et 60°; au revers, les villes et leurs latitudes gravées; le tout dans un coffret en bois avec fil à plomb. Auteur de 'Règle horaire universelle pour tracer des cadrans solaires sur toutes sortes de plans réguliers, déclinant et inclines', 1716 Cf. inv. 1958.12.1, musée du Temps, Besançon.
