Situé à Autun, le musée Verger-Tarin fait partie du réseau des musées de France dans le Saône-et-Loire.

Pour ce qui est de l'histoire de l'établissement, L'ensemble des meubles et objets domestiques de la famille Verger-Tarin a été réuni au XVIIIe siècle, puis enrichi au XIXe siècle et complété par des acquisitions ultérieures.

L'ensemble a été cédé à la Société éduenne des lettres, sciences et arts en 1933, qui en a fait don à la ville en 1954. La ville d’Autun achète alors l’hôtel Lacomme et réunit de nouveau les deux moitiés de l’hôtel Rolin initial pour y abriter le musée actuel.

Ceci a permis la fusion des collections du musée Rolin, des collections de l'ancien musée municipal et d'une partie des collections du musée Lapidaire et du musée Verger-Tarin.
