Aigle impérial
Description
Cette aigle impériale couronnée, la tête orientée vers la droite, correspond aux modèles exécutés sous le Second Empire. Le centre est percé d'un trou qui permettait de fixer l'ornement sur un support (probablement en bois) avec un rivet. Letravail fruste du repoussé, non repris à la ciselure, semble désigner un élément de décor de théâtre ou d'architecture éphémère peut-être dans le contexte des cérémonies de la réunion de la Savoie à la France en 1860, sans possibilité d'obtenir plus de précision dans l'état des connaissances actuelles. De nombreux éléments de décor ont été réalisés dans cette veine sous le Second Empire, de sorte que cette aigle a pu être fixée sur un panneau de bois ou tout autre support. Des traces de soudure à l'étain sont visibles au verso, preuve qu'une patte de fixation a disparu, ce qui a peut-être justifié le percement du centre de l'objet pour le faire tenir sur son support, le trou n'étant pas ébarbé proprement comme le révèlent les lèvres encore visibles au revers.
