Description
Argent partiellement doré ; Aiguière de forme balustre reposant sur un piédouche dont la base circulaire comporte une inscription commémorant la donation faite par Jean Charles Gol en 1707 aux Hospices de Strasbourg. Piédouche godronné mouluré de feuilles d'acanthes ciselées. Le vase est orné de trois bas-reliefs en applique de format carré, bordés de feuilles d'acanthe. Ils représentent 'La Nativité', 'La Crucifixion' et 'Adam et Eve et l'arbre de la connaissance'. Sous chacune de ces scènes est gravé un phylactère portant une inscription. Le col de l'aiguière mouluré de godrons et de perles est muni d'un couvercle en casque monté à charnière. Les bords moulurés du col et du couvercle sont dorés. Bouton ovoïde à décor d'acanthe reposant sur une terrasse gravée de feuillages. L'anse en argent fondu, à volutes feuillagées prend naissance au-dessus d'un motif en relief aux armoiries de Jean Charles Gol. Les 3 bas-reliefs renvoient à la production de médailler et de sculpteur de Joachim Frédéric (II) Kirstein. L'aiguière est conservée avec son coffret de bois noirci et gainé intérieurement de daim jaune. Le Cabinet des estampes et des dessins de Strasbourg conserve le dessin de Joachim Frédéric (II) Kirstein représentant cette aiguière (inv. 77.004.0.19)
