Musée labellisé « Musée de France » à Strasbourg (Grand Est), le musée des Arts Décoratifs est un établissement public de conservation.
Concernant son passé, Fondé vers 1883 afin de stimuler l'art artisanal et industriel en Alsace, le musée, transféré après 1918 de l'ancienne Boucherie du palais Rohan, fut épuré et enrichi dans la perspective de présenter l'histoire des arts appliqués, axée en grande partie sur Strasbourg et sa région.
L'intérêt de ce musée tient à : Palais Rohan, construit de 1739 à 1742 par Robert de Cotte pour le cardinal Armand Gaston de Rohan-Soubise. De style classique, le palais est édifié selon l'ordonnance habituelle de l'hôtel parisien entre cour et jardin.
Il est associé à Cardinaux Rohan.
Parmi ses atouts : Le musée comprend deux sections : - les somptueux appartements des cardinaux de Rohan d’une part ; - et les collections d’arts décoratifs strasbourgeois couvrant la période allant de 1681 au milieu du XIXe siècle d’autre part (céramique Hannong de renommée internationale, mobilier, sculpture et peinture, horlogerie, ferronnerie et orfèvrerie).
Le musée présente également une sélection de jouets mécaniques de la fondation Tomi Ungerer. Le musée conserve des collections dans les domaines : Arts décoratifs. L'établissement est accessible au 2 place du château, Strasbourg.

The building
Palais Rohan, built from 1739 to 1742 by Robert de Cotte for Cardinal Armand Gaston de Rohan-Soubise. In classical style, the palace is constructed according to the usual layout of the Parisian townhouse between courtyard and garden.
