Description

Calice à pied circulaire mouluré et tige en balustre comprenant une bague moulurée et un noeud en forme d'anneau plat gravé de moulurations en creux et matées. La coupe unie est légèrement évasée vers le haut. La décoration des aiguières, à corps piriforme reposant sur un piédouche circulaire, consiste en la répétition de moulures horizontales. S'y ajoute le mouvement en accolade de l'anse. Mais c'est le bouton du couvercle monté à charnière qui constitue l'ornement principal de l'aiguière. Posé sur une terrasse de feuilles d'eau, il est en forme de graines et de feuilles d'acanthe. L'appui-pouce en demi-cercle est ciselé d'une demi-rosace. L'utilisation de deux tons d'or, rouge et jaune, permet d'obtenir de légers contrastes entre les parties planes et moulurées. Il s'agissait au départ d'un double nécessaire de Sainte Cène accompagné d'une boîte à hosties. En effet, le coffret en bois de noyer qui l'accompagne abrite deux niveaux de compartiments gainés de daim rouge: au plan supérieur, le rangement est conçu pour recevoir deux calices en paire, deux patènes à piédouche circulaire en paire, une boîte à hosties; le niveau supérieur est aménagé pour contenir deux aiguières en paire.
