Musée Rabelais
Le musée Rabelais est l'un des musées labellisés « Musée de France » de Seuilly, en Centre-Val de Loire. En ce qui concerne l'histoire du lieu, En 1948, le département d’Indre-et-Loire se porte acquéreur de La Devinière.
Simultanément intervient la création de l’Association des Amis de Rabelais et de La Devinière. En 1951, après restauration du logis et de la grange-pigeonnier, le musée Rabelais est inauguré.
De 1980 à 1990, le Conseil général d’Indre-et-Loire achète les bâtiments et maisons adjacentes celles du métayer et du vigneron, qui sont successivement rénovés afin d’agrandir l’espace muséographique. En 2002, le musée reçoit l'appellation Musée de France.
Les années suivantes sont consacrées à un aménagement paysager avec la plantation de vignes, la création d’un jardin et la réhabilitation de six cents mètres carrés de caves désormais ouvertes à la visite. En 2011, le musée reçoit la labellisation Maison des Illustres.
Le musée est associé à François Rabelais (vers 1483 - 1553). Il se distingue par : Editions rares du XVIe siècle. Portraits rares de Rabelais, notamment le portait réalisé et offert par Matisse en 1951.
Son intérêt principal : Cette maison des champs située à Seuilly, située à sept kilomètres de Chinon, serait la maison natale de Rabelais. Construite au XVe siècle, cette bâtisse est composée de deux étages en pierre de tuffeau. Elle est flanquée d’un pigeonnier-grange du XVIIe siècle.
