Installé à Château-Chinon (Nièvre), le musée du Septennat a reçu l'appellation « Musée de France ». Quelques éléments historiques : Ouvert en 1986, le musée présente les cadeaux reçus par le président François Mitterrand au cours de ses deux septennats.
Les musées du Septennat et du Costume sont fermés depuis le 1er septembre 2019. Ils ouvriront bientôt sous la forme d’une Cité Muséale. Parmi les points forts du musée : Cette donation au département de la Nièvre est la première initiative en France sur ce thème.
