Il suscite l'intérêt par : Bâti sur un plan fonctionnel en 1768 , par le célèbre naturaliste Buffon, la grand forge est un des rares ensemble industriel du XVIIIe siècle - haut fourneau avec escalier monumental - et ensemble de la soufflerie du début du XIXe siècle.
