Le musée-château est l'un des musées labellisés « Musée de France » de Cagnes-sur-Mer, en Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Pour ce qui est de l'histoire de l'établissement, Le premier musée est créé en 1946. Il est consacré à la culture de l'olivier.

En 1953 ouvre une section consacrée à la peinture moderne et contemporaine. S'ajoute en 1973 une donation par la chanteuse Suzy Solidor de quarante de ses plus beaux portraits (œuvres de Picabia, Dufy, Lempicka, Foujita, Van Dongen..).

Suzy Solidor, famille Grimaldi. est la personnalité emblématique de ce musée. Son intérêt réside dans : Le fortin médiéval du XIVe siècle est transformé en demeure seigneuriale au XVIIe siècle par Jean-Henri Grimaldi de Cagnes.

Après la Révolution française, le château est vendu comme bien national et passe aux mains de propriétaires privés. Restauré à la fin du XIXe et au début du XXe siècles, il est vendu aux enchères en 1937. Ses points forts : Donation Solidor Musée ethnographique de l'olivier.

Le premier musée est créé en 1946. Il est consacré à la culture de l'olivier. En 1953 ouvre une section consacrée à la peinture moderne et contemporaine.

The building
