Mais une note collée au verso de la couverture, de la main de M. de Laborde dit que ces dessins n'ont pas servi à l'élaboration des planches du voyage en Grèce de Choiseul-Gouffier. Ce serait soit les dessins préparatoires de ce même ouvrage, soit les éléments d'un tout autre ouvrage.
