Description

Ce vase simple à anse en étrier reprend les formes traditionnelles des poteries de la côte nord du Pérou, remontant à la période Chavín (Premier Horizon, premier millénaire avant notre ère). Le décor est en revanche typique de la céramique Chimú : espaces rectangulaires en légère dépression, occupés - en bas-relief - d'un champ de pointes au centre duquel figure un guerrier. L'aspect de ce dernier est caractéristique de l'art Chimú : stylisation extrême et casque à cimier en arc. Ce motif, très courant, est également rencontré sur les décors des murs de Chanchan et sur les broderies et décors de plumes des tissus Chimú.
