Stèle de Saturnalis
Description
Calcaire sculpté. Cette stèle présentait à l'origine une niche en plein cintre dont il ne reste qu'une partie de l'arc. La niche est couronnée par un cul-de-four aplati. A l'intérieur, un homme, dont il ne reste que la tête, sculptée en haut relief, a son visage tourné de trois quarts vers la droite. Ce dernier a totalement disparu. Seule l'orbite des yeux peut être encore distinguée. Le personnage porte les cheveux courts. Le sommet de la stèle se termine par un fronton. On rencontre ici le même problème que pour la stèle J 51 : l'arc de la niche monte trop haut par rapport au fronton. Peut-on parler ici d'un fronton syrien ? Le faîte du toit est en outre aplani. On distingue également une ascia sur la face postérieure. Sur le fronton se trouve l'inscription. Elle est disposée sur deux lignes : la première est horizontale et la seconde suit la courbure de l'arc. On lit encore: Fil(ius) / (Sat)urnalis Satur(nini) 'Saturnalis, fils de Saturninus'. G. Julliot et J. Guerrier sont d'accord pour ajouter les lettres 'DM', gravées sur des éléments disparus, comme des acrotères ou des chapiteaux.(BERGER Stéphanie)
