Description
Assiette à fond plat en faïence fine à décor d'émaux polychromes. Le fond est peint d'un portrait en buste de la comédienne et actrice Sarah Bernhardt, le visage de face tourné vers la gauche. Elle porte un costume de la Renaissance : robe jaune à manches bouffantes rouges décolletée en carré, collerette en dentelle. Cheveux relevés en chignon avec broche fleur de lys, boucles d'oreilles, collier et pendentif. La figure se détache sur un fond blanc et bleu ciel. Le bord de l'assiette est orné de motifs cursifs. Sarah Bernhardt est probablement vêtue du costume de la reine d'Espagne Dona Maria de Neubourg, rôle qu'elle interprète dans la pièce de théâtre Ruy Blas écrite par Victor Hugo en 1838, la fleur de lys indiquant la noblesse et le pendentif en perles posé sur son chignon, le collier et la boucle d'oreille sa richesse.
