Description
Boîte en laiton gravé capitonnée de velours, contenant une statuette en ivoire. ; Boîte rectangulaire au sommet arrondi, fermée sur le devant et ornée d'un décor gravé représentant : - sur le couvercle, le Christ en croix sur un tertre fleuri ; crâne et os au pied de la croix, tête d'angelot ailée au-dessus, lune et soleil de part et d'autre. - sur le fond externe, trigramme IHS sommé d'une croix, sous trois étoiles et au-dessus d'un coeur percé de trois clous ; motif encadré de deux tiges végétales. Intérieur capitonné de velours rouge et enduit de colle de peau, dans lequel se tient un groupe en ivoire représentant saint Nicolas portant une chape et une mitre, tenant la crosse de la main gauche et faisant de la main droite un geste de bénédiction au-dessus du baquet où trois enfants nus se dressent vers lui. Statuette en applique avec cale en bois pour donner l'illusion de l'épaisseur. La statuette de saint Nicolas a été installée dans cette boîte non conçue pour elle : il existe un vide important entre le haut de la mitre et le sommet de la boîte.
