Portrait du duc en armure de profil droit, coupé aux genoux, tête de face, le bras droit plié vers la taille portant le bâton de commandement, le bras gauche relâché main posée sur le casque. Il porte le grand ruban bleu avec la plaque du Saint-Esprit, le ruban rouge avec l'ordre de la Toison d'Or. La nef dans l'arrière plan à gauche évoque son statut de grand amiral de France, le manteau bleu doublé d'hermine visible en bas à droite, le casque étant posé dessus, son appartenance à la famille royale des Bourbon. Un arbre avec quelques feuilles est visible à droite .
