Portrait en buste d’un homme en tenue militaire, inscrit dans un faux cadre ovale de couleur gris-bleu. Il est coiffé d’une perruque « à la Louis XV » et porte une armure d’apparat bleu foncé, dorée et rouge. Son corps est légèrement tourné vers la senestre, tandis que son regard se dirige presque frontalement vers le spectateur. Il porte une cravate blanche. Le portrait se détache sur un arrière-plan brumeux, aux tonalités gris-jaune.
