Description
Sapin du Nord, teinté brun. En 1970, Denys Chevalier confie aux Lettres Françaises les paroles du sculpteur : « Je cherche à rythmer ou articuler des plans et des volumes par des morceaux de matière qui, à leur tour, agissent sur l’intérieur de l’ensemble de la composition afin d’en accentuer la forme initiale. » En 1971, la galerie Ariel consacre à Subirà-Puig une importante exposition personnelle. Dans le catalogue écrit par Chevalier est reproduit Grand Papillon girouette de dimensions monumentales (380 x 200 cm) photographiée dans le jardin du Palais Royal à l’occasion du Salon de la Jeune Sculpture en 1968. José Subirà-Puig y expose depuis 1958, et devient membre du comité directeur entre 1971 et 1978. De cette sculpture, Papillon-Girouette, une maquette de 41 cm de hauteur dont l’élément en partie supérieur pivote, rejoint la collection de Chevalier.
