Description
Moulage en plâtre d'un original en grès rose détruit en 1870 ; Figure de soldat porte-enseigne, debout, de face, armé et coiffé d'un casque conique à cimier dont le plumet retombe le long de la partie droite du casque. Il est vêtu d'une tunique et d'un long manteau, agrafé par une fibule cruciforme sur l'épaule droite et retombant dans le dos jusqu'aux chevilles. Les plis arrondis et parallèles du manteau forment une série de bourrelets réguliers autour du cou et sur l'épaule gauche. La main gauche est posée sur le bord supérieur d'un bouclier circulaire à umbo central arrondi ; ce bouclier, surélevé, repose sur un élément triangulaire planté dans le sol. La main droite levée tient la hampe d'une lance, à la base d'un fer lancéolé dont la nervure centrale est bien visible. Une épée longue est pendue obliquement à la ceinture ; le pommeau et la bouterolle dépassent de part et d'autre du bouclier. Derrière le personnage, on distingue une enseigne à hampe de section carrée, surmontée d'un coq tournant la tête vers la droite.
