Edition des premières années du XXe siècle, Collection Alexandre Dumas Illustré (Romans - Histoire - Nouvelles - Mémoires - Voyages), tome 58 ; Mes Mémoires, I (première édition en 1852-1856), illustrations de Grandville, Victor Hugo, Tony Johannot, Lix, Méaulle, Henry Monnier, Léon Noël, Horace Vernet, etc., 248 pages. La collection Alexandre Dumas Illustré réalisée par les éditions A. Le Vasseur et Cie dans les premières années du XXe siècle est remarquable à plusieurs titres. Existant sous deux formes (60 tomes brochés ou 25 tomes reliés) au contenu identique, elle comprend tous les livres de Dumas à quelques - sérieuses - réserves près : il y manque le Grand Dictionnaire de cuisine, par exemple, et surtout la totalité du théâtre. Elle est très abondamment illustrée de gravures, ce qui lui donne un charme certain. Enfin et surtout, elle est très 'compacte'. Ses volumes grand format au texte composé sur deux colonnes permettent de reproduire l'oeuvre de Dumas en un nombre relativement limité de volumes. S'il est difficile de trouver les 60 volumes brochés, l'édition reliée en 25 tomes, qui bénéficie d'une très solide reliure, a généralement bien traversé les années. Si bien que cette dernière offre la meilleure possibilité de rassembler les oeuvres - presque - complètes de l'écrivain
