Description
Masque réalisé dans une tôle dont l'épaisseur varie de 0,2 à 0,45mm. La tôle a été frappée, laminée et étirée puis le sujet a été exécuté au repoussoir. Il s'agit d'un visage féminin (traits fins et peu prononcés laissent émettre cette hypothèse) dont la chevelure est représenté par des mèches régulières tirées en arrière jusqu'au-dessus des tempes et n'encadre pas le visage. Le front dégagé met en valeur des yeux dont le contour est figuré par des losanges saillants dégagés au repoussé. Les sourcils rectilignes s'inscrivent dans le prolongement de l'arête du nez (le gauche est à peine marqué). Les yeux devaient être rehaussés d'un cabochon (celui de gauche a conservé une tête de pivot soudée à la tôle). Celle-ci était lacunaire à l'oeil droit et a été restituée par le laboratoire de Nancy qui a procédé à la restauration du masque, Les oreilles ne sont pas figurées et la bouche, petite, est marquée par un court sillon, en dessous d'une longue gouttière labiale horizontale. La forme générale du visage est allongée. Ne subsiste qu'un rivet de fixation dont la tête bombée émerge de la coiffure. L'emplacement des autres rivets est signalé par des orifices sur le pourtour du masque. L'exécution trouve des parallèles dans celle de nombreux ex-voto en tôle de bronze et le mode de fixation suggère un montage en applique, vraisemblablement sur une âme en bois.
