Description
L'artiste a recherché une attitude provocante où le modèle se présente de dos avec le visage de face. La coiffure traditionnelle est remplacée par une coiffe de bohémienne mais les cheveux dénoués apparaissent. L'ensemble est un mélange de références dont la seule unité réside dans l'extravagance du propos : le décolleté habituel en rectangle est présenté dans le dos avec son lacet, les plis de la manche bouffante dans le goût du prétendu portrait de Palma sont accentués (MP0033, MP0409). Les accessoires contenus dans les mains renforcent l'absence de naturel : à la main droite, un collier avec une médaille représentant le couple des amants et à la gauche, un feuillet avec un texte intitulé "Pétrarque à Laure, sonnet". Cette gravure appartient à un pendant (MP0465) traité dans la même veine : celle d'une complaisance dont les effets frisent le ridicule. Encadré.
