La Sphinge au crâne

Description

Cette sculpture représente un sphinx femelle, ou sphinge, ailé avec un arrière-train lacunaire, probablement de lion. Elle se trouve assise sur un socle. Le bras droit est placé directement sur le socle. Le bras gauche, lacunaire, reposait sur un crâne d'Homme, se trouvant sur le socle. Elle porte un pectoral, sorte de harnais, fait de deux colliers constitués d'éléments rectangulaires. Ces colliers descendent des épaules sur la poitrine, où ils se rejoignent entre les deux premiers seins par un médaillon arrondi. Les ailes sont déployées. Le monstre a six paires de mamelles. Elles se rapprochent du monde animal. La tête est lacunaire. Des mèches de cheveux sont visibles sur les épaules de la sphinge.
