Description
Cette statue en ronde bosse représente un homme debout en attitude de marche, le pied gauche avancé par rapport à celui de droite. Les cheveux sont ras, le visage est rond, avec de grands yeux en amande, un léger sourire, des lèvres pulpeuses et de grandes oreilles légèrement évasées. Le bras droit est étendu sur le côté, la main ouverte reposant sur le pagne, le shendyt, avec un devanteau à forme trapézoïdale, bien large devant. Le bras gauche est également étendu sur le côté, le poing fermé, serrant peut-être un tissu. Le buste est nu, et le pagne, qui descend jusqu'aux chevilles, est serré au niveau de la ceinture. La statue est assemblée à partir de différentes pièces réalisées séparément, comprenant la tête, les bras et les jambes. Au Moyen Empire, la personne décédée est maintenant représentée par une ou plusieurs statues, parfois de taille réelle ou réduite, placées sur un socle portant son nom. Généralement dépeinte torse nu, avec un pagne, elle tient un symbole de sa puissance. Les statues sont revêtues d'une peinture rougeâtre, les yeux incrustés de pâte de verre, ce qui leur confère un réalisme frappant. Ces statues ou statuettes étaient placées dans les tombes de personnalités importantes. Leur posture droite et un peu rigide ajoutait du prestige, tandis qu'un léger embonpoint au niveau du ventre témoignait de leur alimentation généreuse et, par conséquent, de leur aisance.
