Description
Description des éléments : Le manche arqué est encastré dans une caisse de bois oblongue naviforme. Cette caisse est recouverte d'une peau de moyenne épaisseur (antilope, céphalophe) faisant office de table d'harmonie. Cette peau, cousue sur la face dorsale de l'instrument, est en contact avec un chevalet en bois, disposé dans la caisse et parallèle à son axe longitudinal. Cette harpe arquée possède neuf cordes, dont certaines sont en fibre végétale tressée (rafia) et d'autres en racine aérienne de vanille. L'utilisation de ce type de matériau traditionnel a aujourd'hui pratiquement disparu au profit du fil à pêche en nylon. La proue de la caisse se prolonge d'un court appendice sur lequel est fixé un lien de rafia qui se rattache au manche. Cet appendice s'encastre dans une pièce de bois sculpté antropomorphe représentant une double tête dont les deux visages sont accolés dos à dos. A l'autre extrémité inférieure de la caisse, se dégage un prolongement ou pédoncule de bois. Un crochet de liane rigide torsadée relié à la harpe par une cordelette, sert à suspendre l'instrument lorsqu'il n'est pas joué. Notes sur la description : Lieu de création incertain.
