Description
Présentation générale : Il persiste aujourd'hui deux traditions de harpe au Venezuela. L'une est appelée arpa tuyera du nom de la rivière Tuy, région centrale du Venezuela. L'autre est appelée harpe des llanos, ou arpa llanera, du nom des grandes plaines du sud du pays qui correspond à peu près à la région du bassin central de l'Orénoque, incluant la partie colombienne et vénézuélienne de ce fleuve, ces deux sous-ensembles ne formant qu'un seul univers musical totalement homogène. Aujourd'hui, à l'intérieur comme à l'extérieur du pays, c'est la musique llanera qui identifie le mieux le Venezuela comme nation musicale. Description des éléments : La table d'harmonie qui est pourvue de trois ouïes est en cedro ou faux acajou (cedrela orodata). La caisse de résonance ainsi que le piétement sont en bois de caoba (swietenia mahogani) tandis que le bois de saman (samanea saman) est utilisé pour la console et la tête. Cette harpe possède trente-deux cordes de nylon (autrefois en boyau) dont dix (les cordes basses) sont filées. Elles sont tendues sur des chevilles en métal et sont accordées sur une échelle diatonique. Le cordier médian sous lequel sont fixées ces cordes est en bois de palme. Décor : Un élégant motif en marqueterie encadre le pourtour de la table d'harmonie.
