Description

Vase à orifice plus large que la base, à plan carré, ornementé sur les 4 faces. (description Lansyer) Ce grand vase cornet de section carrée en bronze à patine brune correspond à la forme archaïque dite fangzun. Il présente quatre parties en saillie sur le pied, la panse et le col correspondant aux registres du décor, exécuté en bas-relief. Les registres décoratifs médians arborent des masques de taotie sur fond de spirales carrées leiwen, motif évoquant une figure de glouton dépourvue de mâchoire inférieure caractéristique des bronzes archaïques chinois. D’autres motifs rappelant le taotie ou des formes d’animaux très stylisés se distinguent sur fond de spirales carrées leiwen sur les deux parties décoratives supérieures. Au niveau du long col étroit brusquement évasé en forme de trompette, ces motifs sont répartis dans des zones évoquant des feuilles ou des pétales stylisés. Les arêtes en saillie traversant les quatre faces du vase imitent les arêtes de fonte des vases archaïques Shang et Zhou.
