Description
Pétrarque de profil droit couronné de lauriers, en médaillon. Ce graveur au burin s'est consacré uniquement au portrait. On connaît de lui six cents pièces iconographiques. Desrochers a copié la gravure du XVIe siècle n° MP0428 en supprimant le décor naturaliste ainsi que l'inscription de l'ovale qu'il déplace à la base. Il rajoute, comme ce fut souvent l'usage au XVIIIe siècle, un quatrain en vers de mirliton dans un cartouche qui fait socle. Ce portrait fait pendant à une représentation de Laure que Desrochers a réalisée à partir des deux tableaux conservés au Musée Calvet d’Avignon (MP0038)
