Description

statuette en métal cuivreux ; "Cobra dressé la gorge dilatée. Aucun décor, seuls les yeux globuleux sont représentés. Ce serpent femelle dressé au front des dieux et des pharaons est la déesse incarnant l'oeil de Ré, appelé uraeus, nom latin dérivé de l'égyptien iaret "le serpent femelle". La déesse cobra est aussi la déesse Ouadjet qui préside à la ville de Bouto dans le Delta. Elle est protectrice de la couronne rouge du Nord. Il existe d'autres déesses serpent : Merseger, déesse funéraire de la nécropole de Thèbes et Renoutet, déesse des moissons" (Affholder-Gérard et Cornic, 1990)
