Description
Scène d'exorcisme. A droite du tableau, une jeune fille agenouillée, implore Sainte Anne, la Vierge et l'Enfant. Elle est vêtue d'une robe grise, agrémentée d'un collet rabattu présentant une certaine fantaisie : deux pointes de lingerie rapportée couvrent les épaules. Au bas des manches se trouvent des manchettes en rebras. Deux pères récollets sont agenouillés à gauche. L'un d'eux tend l'ostensoir de sa main droite vers la jeune fille. Sa main gauche est pointée vers le ciel. Le deuxième père, plus en retrait, de sa main droite, égraine un chapelet, sa main gauche étant pointée sur son visage. Tous les deux sont vêtus de la robe de bure à capuchon. Une couronne de cheveux entoure leur tête tonsurée. Leurs pieds sont nus dans des sandales à semelles épaisses. Le décor est très sombre. On distingue deux murs en perspective. Sur l'un d'eux, figuré plus clair, on aperçoit le démon Accaron fuiant. Il est représenté cornu et griffu. En haut, au centre, apparaissent Sainte Anne, la Vierge et l'Enfant sur un halo de nuages gris. L'espace céleste est éclairé par leurs auréoles lumineuses. Leur regard est dirigé vers la jeune fille. Sainte Anne est vêtue d'une robe rouge et d'un voile blanc. Sa main gauche est posée sur l'Enfant Jésus qui est nu. La Vierge est vêtue de couleurs claires. Dans la légende du tableau, il est fait mention du démon ACCARAN . Il s’agit là d’une erreur faite par les gens de l’époque puisque le nom du démon est ACCARON , qui correspond à Belzébuth , un dieu du monde sémite dont on suppose qu’il était vénéré à Eqrôn (ou Accaron) .
