Description
Dans cette vue nocturne de l'étang de Berre vu depuis la plage de Ferrieres, le premier plan est occupé par la grève tandis qu'au loin les lumières de Marignane, de Vitrolles, de Rognac et de Berre-l'Etang se reflètent dans l'eau sombre. Le ciel est lourd, chargé d'épais nuages, et se teintes des illuminations des villes côtières. Une usine, à gauche, laisse échapper une fumée dense qui va se mêler aux nuages gris qui la surplombent. Au second plan, les eaux laissent apparaître une forme circulaire noire, sorte de gigantesque trou béant, de dimensions importantes mais pourtant peu visible. Cet élément fait partie des vides insolites que l'artiste insère dans ses vues paysagères. Dès des débuts, en 1989, il intègre des formes plus ou moins géométriques qui attirent spontanément le regard du spectateur, son travail de retouches étant revendiqué. Dans ses dernières créations, ce travail d'incision numérique se fait de plus en plus subtil, la forme intégrée de plus en plus discrète.
