Encadré. Scène de genre où Dante occupe la première place et Pétrarque se situe légèrement en retrait. Les accessoires consistent en du mobilier néo-gothique ainsi que des éléments d'architecture classique et des livres. Le visage et le capuchon de Pétrarque sont inspirés de l'archétype de la Laurentienne mais la couronne de Pétrarque est moins fournie en laurier donc en gloire que celle de Dante. Le traitement des mains peu élégante atteste la médiocrité de la gravure.
