Description

'Le costume de China Poblana représente le costume national du Mexique aujourd'hui encore. Il se compose d'une blouse de coton brodée et décorée dans sa partie supérieure de perles (chaquiras) et d'une jupe (castor) en laine rouge et satin vert brodé de sequins (lentejuelas) et de perles. La jupe accueille souvent dans sa partie centrale le symbole national (l'aigle mexicain) parfois complété par le drapeau mexicain ou encore la représentation du volcan Popocatépelt. ; Il s'agit ici d'une libre interprétation du costume national. Sur la jupe, on distingue la représentation du couple, symbolisé par la China poblana et le charro, en train de danser le jarabe tapatio autour du sombrero.
