Description
Étude pour trois lancettes trilobées réalisée au crayon ; Dessin de trois lancettes trilobées. Concile d'Éphèse ? L'iconographie de cette étude peut être rapprochée d'une verrière de l'église Saint-Thomas de Cantorbéry du Mont-aux-Malades à Mont-Saint-Aignan, réalisée par l'atelier Boulanger, et identifiée comme le Concile d'Éphèse, dans l'ouvrage de R. Deschamps : La paroisse Saint-Jacques et l'église Saint-Thomas de Cantorbéry de Mont-aux-Malades, 1941. La scène du dessin est retournée par rapport à celle de la verrière, mais l'agencement général est très proche et il existe beaucoup de similitudes. Lancette gauche : personnages rassemblés. Une femme porte un petit enfant dans ses bras. Un enfant plus âgé se tient debout au premier plan. Fond architectural. Lancette du milieu : un homme présente un parchemin à la foule. Il se tient debout au sommet de trois marches. Derrière lui se tiennent trois personnages. L'un d'eux se superpose au fond architectural et témoigne du remaniement de l'étude. Au sommet de cette lancette, deux anges tiennent un phylactère. Lancette droite : un groupe d'hommes (théologiens ?) pour la plupart assis, discutent. L'un d'eux tient un livre qui repose sur ses genoux. Plusieurs petites esquisses se trouvent en marge du dessin principal. Au revers de la feuille : personnage debout. Tête non représentée. Etude de drapé ? Le personnage porte un bouquet de fleurs à la ceinture. A côté, étude de jambes d'hommes.
