"[...] Fait parti du corpus des coffres en sapin peint qui se rencontaient dans la montagne vosgienne dont Gérardmer semble avoir été le centre. Ces coffres, qui ne comportent pas de poignée, sont de structure très archaïque : des côtés plats, un couvercle à charnières à pentures apparentes, une serrure à moraillon. Le décor, qui couvre entièrement la façade intérieure, est le plus souvent peint en polychromie. [...] Le répertoire décoratif de ces meubles comporte généralement des motifs inconnus dans le mobilier lorrain mais caratéristiques des mobiliers de montagne. Ce coffre se singularise par une rare ornementation délicatement peinte sur fond blanc, organisée en cartouches. Un coeur frappe le centre de la façade." (ROZE Francine, 2011)
