Description

Calcaire taillé ; L'arrondi encadrant régulièrement, avec un filet central, le décor en faible relief de la palmette renversée évoque avec les parties laissées vides entre l'extrémité des folioles un fragment de claustra, soit de baie soit de chancel ajouré ou de fenestella. Les baies actuelles de la crypte de Saint-Bénigne de Dijon montrent des superpositions de cercles sécants à trois brins restaurés de dimensions similaires et on peut imaginer d'autres motifs pour les autres baies disparues. On est frappé par ailleurs par la similitude de forme avec le fragment dessiné par l'architecte Charles Suisse qui donne le fragment comme "trouvé dans le tombeau de saint Bénigne". Il pourrait appartenir dans ce cas à un aménagement liturgique au abords du tombeaux.
