Description
Chapiteau en calcaire micritique, dit 'des quatre vents'. Il faisait partie de l'ensemble des huit chapiteaux qui couronnaient les colonnes de marbre du rond-point du choeur de l'abbatiale construite à partir de 1088. La corbeille du chapiteau est décorée d'un feuillage d'acanthe se développant sur trois registres au milieu desquels figuraient quatre personnages dans les angles. Un seul d'entre eux est conservé intégralement. Penché vers l'avant, le personnage tient dans ses mains un objet conique. Cet objet est interprétable comme un soufflet, attribut du vent. Les interprétations les plus récentes préfèrent voir dans cet objet conique une ruche. Des trois autres personnages, très mutilés, n'est conservé que le bas du corps. Sur chaque face du chapiteau, une tige centrale sort du feuillage et s'épanouit en une fleur qui vient s'appuyer sur le dé d'abaque. Sur les quatre volutes d'angle, une seule est intacte, les autres sont très abîmées.
