Description
La scène de la Nativité est sculptée sur la face principale. La Vierge Marie est allongée sur un lit. L’Enfant Jésus est couché dans un étroit berceau, entouré de l’âne et du bœuf. Cette scène offre une particularité iconographique. Le personnage à gauche de la scène, tenant un phylactère, est Isaïe, et non Joseph, montrant la réalisation de sa prophétie.#Le chapiteau est couronné d'un dais d'architectures. Le thème de « ville sur arcatures » est assez répandu dans le 2e quart du XIIe siècle. Il s’inspire de la vision prophétique d’Ézéchiel sur la venue du Sauveur.#Sur la face latérale, à droite, est figurée la Visitation, la rencontre de Marie et de sa cousine, Elisabeth. La face gauche du chapiteau représente l'Annonce aux Bergers.
