Description
Cette boîte à bétel et ses deux plateaux sont laqués de rouge uni à l'intérieur et présentent un décor doré sur fond noir à l'extérieur. Le couvercle est orné de cavaliers tenant le bras droit levé, un au centre de la partie supérieure, quatre sur le pourtour, alternant avec des motifs végétaux. Ces motifs se retrouvent sur la boîte et sur son pourtour, alternant avec quatre hommes représentés à demi agenouillés, tendant le bras droit, évoquant des lutteurs. Les plateaux sont décorés de cercles concentriques. Le récipient principal est enserré étroitement par un couvercle légèrement bombé qui le recouvre presque entièrement afin de protéger le contenu de l'air, des insectes et de la poussière. Il renferme les feuilles de bétel, ainsi que deux plateaux superposés de profondeurs différentes : le plateau inférieur est réservé aux feuilles de tabac et le plateau supérieur contient des petits paniers pour les noix d'arec, les épices et la chaux
