Bloc rempant
Description
Élément de superstructure de la dentelle de pierre de la tour des Princes du château de Mehun-sur-Yèvre, ou de sa chapelle. Élément broché, destiné au décor des parties sommitales du château : superstructures de la tour des Princes ou de la chapelle double à étage. Des feuilles de choux placées sur angles soulignent des moulures particulièrement soignées. Aux deux extrémités se retrouvent des broches de fixation qui montrent la complexité des assemblages. Deux hypothèses sont envisageables. La première, serait d'envisager un pilier vertical décoré. La deuxième, plus vraisemblable, est de placer ce bloc dans le décor de l'un des faux pignons décoratifs des façades des superstructures. La trace d'un joint en chaux, placé lattéralement au décor, conforte cette hypothèse, associant rempant et résille, comme sur la gravure de Jean Penot.
