Description

Statue en ronde-bosse du savant, érudit et céramiste Bernard Palissy (1510 - 1589), inventeur des rustiques figulines. Il se tient debout, le bras plié et le regard orienté vers le sol. Il est vêtu d'un collet blanc, d'un pourpoint couleur aubergine, d'un justaucorps vert foncé et d'un haut-de-chausse rayé couleur aubergine et blanc. Un four à céramiques est posé devant ses jambes, sur lequel sont posés un ouvrage d'histoire naturelle et le traité dont Bernard Palissy est l'auteur, intitulé De l'art de terre, de son utilité, des esmaux et du feu.
