Description

Argile peinte. Amphore attique à figures rouges, de forme panathénaïque, représentant un jeune athlète et son entraîneur. FACE A : jeune athlète nu, se préparant à sauter. Il est tourné vers la droite et tient à bout de bras des haltères ; sa jambe gauche est tendue en avant, les orteils crispés débordant sur le méandre ornemental inférieur. L'anatomie est très soigneusement détaillée : abdomen, côtes, muscles des bras et des cuisses. FACE B : un homme barbu, couronné, en manteau, tourné vers la droite, tient de la main droite une baguette qui le caractérise comme entraîneur (pédotribe).
