Description

Fer, laque, laçage en coton, cuir imprimé et doré, bronze ; Cette armure japonaise est de type mogamidô tôsei gusoku. L’armure tôsei gusoku (littéralement « équipement complet moderne ») apparaît dans l’archipel dans la première moitié du XVIe siècle pendant la période Sengoku (1477-1573). Il s’agit d’une cuirasse dont les parties principales, articulées par des charnières, ne sont plus composées de rangs d’écailles mais de larges bandes de métal plus résistantes et plus simples à fabriquer. Elles utilisent par ailleurs un nouveau mode d’assemblage des lamelles avec laçage par paires verticales assemblées (sugake). Le casque (kabuto), constitué de quelques plaques assemblées, imite le même modèle de construction.
