Pendant le rituel funéraire, les embaumeurs en insèrent un grand nombre entre les bandelettes de la momie. Plus elles sont nombreuses, plus elles sont puissantes. Le choix du matériau et l'emplacement sur le corps en déterminent aussi l'efficacité. » (F. Rubiella, 2020) ; "Cette amulette figure deux doigts accolés, l'index et le majeur, avec la représentation des obles et des phalanges. Verso : représentation des plis des phalanges. A partir de la XXVIe dynastie, cette amulette est placée généralement au niveau de l'incision du flanc et paraît rappeler surtout par la matière l'instrument utilisé par les embaumeurs pour procéder à l'éviscération" (Affholder-Gérard et Cornic, 1990)
