Lettre 1er échelon pour l'intérieur (bureau à bureau). Affranchissement rare par des timbres au type Aigle, 1866. Cette lettre d'Alger du 7 avril 1866 est affranchie à 20 c (selon le tarif postal du 1er janvier 1862 pour une lettre de moins de 10 grammes de bureau à bureau) exceptionnellement par deux timbres-poste à 10 c bistre, type Aigle des colonies générales. Or, ces timbres émis à la demande du ministère de la marine et des colonies, de 1858 à 1869, sont utilisés uniquement dans les colonies françaises, et non pour l'Algérie, partie intégrante du territoire français depuis 1848. Ils sont oblitérés du losange gros chiffres n° 5005, bureau d'Alger. La lettre arrive à Charleville, Ardennes, le 10 avril 1866
