Description
Ce chapeau noir est en feutre ras. La calotte est de forme ronde et rigide, comme un demi-melon. ELLE EST GARNIe D'UN RUBAN à GROS GRAIN QUI SE TERMINE PAR UN GROS NOEUD PLAqué sur le côté. La passe est bridée de manière importante sur les côtés et s'affine sur l'avant et l'arrière. Une bande de cuir appelée aussi coiffe, couvre le tour de tête. Les initiales et la griffe sont imprimés en or sur cette coiffe en cuir. La couture de cette bande est ornée d'un noeud en ruban. La même griffe est imprimée sur la satinette au fond de la coiffe. ; Le feutre ras : est obtenu par le ponçage du feutre au papier verre très fin. La passe bridée : est fait par le tournurier, qui s'aidant d'un fer très chaud et d'une corde à brider courbe le bord du chapeau. Les doreurs imprimeurs : étaient spécialistes de la griffe sur les cuirs ou les coiffes du tour de tête à l'intérieur du chapeau. Ils griffaient souvent à l'or véritable, les écussons, la marque du fabriquant et celle du détaillant. Il subsiste un seul imprimeur-doreur en France à Chazelles sur Lyon
