Description
Ce Pao Taou à champ orienté présente une scène figurative représentant l’évolution du couple de son état de jeunesse symbolisé par l’arbre nu, à celui de la maturité matérialisé par l’arbre feuillu à écorce. On leur souhaite immortalité par le biais du phénix, l’abondance et la richesse sont évoquées par la pivoine tandis que la fidélité est matérialisée par l’ibis. Par conséquence, ce type de tapis est souvent offert aux jeunes fiancées. De plus, le rouge est symbole de joie, de prospérité et de bonheur. L’arbre sacré à gauche est un ginko biloba, originaire de Chine, il est cultivé depuis longtemps auprès des temples par les moines bouddhistes et fortement vénéré par les chinois pour sa longévité puisqu’il vit jusqu’à 2000 ans et plus. Dans la bordure interne figure une grecque. L’encadrement principal est orné d’une suite de losanges. La bordure extérieure unie est dépourvue de décoration, sa couleur bleu est caractéristique des pièces ultérieures au début du XIXème siècle. Le rasage du velours varie pour mettre en valeur le relief de certains motifs.
