Description
Petit récipient (conopa) en forme d'alpaga, en pierre vert sombre moucheté (stéatite ?) avec une large cavité verticale dans le dos. La tête et le cou dressés (portant le 'jabot' de laine caractéristique de l'espèce et le distinguant du lama) ainsi que la petite queue sont traités en ronde-bosse. La cavité cylindrique creusée dans le dos a pu être emplie d'une offrande de feuilles de coca mélangées à de la graisse animale. Ce type d'objet très répandu a pu être interprété comme un objet rituel (voire une 'amulette') lié aux cultes pastoraux ou agraires afin de faciliter l'abondance et la prospérité du troupeau ou une bonne récolte. Uhle a pu noter une survivance de cette coutume dans la vallée de Vilcaneta, ainsi que B. Sillar. Comparaison : conopa n°71.1887.115.163 du musée du quai Branly.
