Anonyme — 16th Century;1st quarter 17th Century

Description

Masque de théâtre Nô représentant un vieil homme. Des ouvertures sont percés dans les yeux, les narines et la bouche. Des rainures figurent les rides du personnage. De petites perforations circulaires (sur les deux côtés du front, au sommet du front, sous le nez et sous la bouche) contiennent encore pour la majorité du textile. Les cheveux et poils qui y étaient insérés sont par contre manquants. Deux petites perforation circulaires sont localisées au niveau des tempes et étaient destinées à accueillir une ficelle permettant de porter le masque.#Le masque est en bois laqué (laque urushi). Sa partie externe est lisse et soigneusement sculptée. Sa partie interne présente des traces de taille brute.#Bon état.
