Description

Bois de la famille des bois de rose. ; Pagaie en bois, entièrement incisée de petits motifs géométriques en forme de croix incrustées dans un carré, typiques de l'art des îles Australes. A la base de la pelle, deux motifs circulaires (oeil) sont gravés sur deux faces opposées du manche. La section transversale du manche est quadrangulaire. Le pommeau est sculpté d'une frise représentant à l'origine huit figurines féminines stylisées, aux grands yeux ronds, dans la même position classique que la déesse Arununa, propre aussi aux postures de danse. Sur celle-ci seules six figurines sont représentées
